On the auspicious occasion of the Engineers' Day, the Event Management Committee (EMC) on behalf of the NEA-JC Executive Committee, is going to organize an one-day talk program at Kyoto University on 20th July, 2008.

We request all our fellow engineers, friends, seniors, and interested persons residing in Japan to participate in the event and help us to make this "Engineers' Day Celebration" a success. We hope that the success of such endeavors will lead to further initiatives of this type.

While celebrating this very important day, we share our experiences and knowledge, and deepen our friendship. 

The topics of the discussion would be (subject to change depending on the resource persons) as follows.

(1) NEA and its role in new scenario.

(2) Advances in internet and telecommunications

(3) Disaster preparedness/ management (earthquake, debris flow, flood, Landslide etc.) 

(4) Environmental issues (Ground water, land and air pollution, global warming etc.)

(5) Energy Issues

(6) Miscellaneous (including poems, muktak etc. (if any) and presentation from invited non-engineer seniors and friends)

If you would like to make a presentation, please mention about the tentative title of your presentation.  Please note that the deadline for submitting a participation/presentation request to the EMC is July 17, 2008.

Participation/Presentation Guidelines :

1. The deadline for the submission of a participation/presentation request to the Event Management Committee (EMC) is Thursday, July 17, 2008. You are requested to send your willingness to the participation/presentation as soon as possible before this due date. The EMC will acknowledge the receipt of your request as soon as possible. In case you could not receive an acknowledgement within two days after your request submission, you are requested to kindly remind the EMC.

2. Abstracts should be written in English (one page A4-size). The abstract submission deadline is the same as stated above.

3. The language of presentation should be English or Nepali.

4. You can submit material for at most two presentations.

5. You will be given 30 minutes (maximum) for your presentation and additional 10 minutes for discussion.

6. You are requested, in principle, to carry your own laptop for your presentation. In case you find it difficult to bring your own laptop, please inform the organizing committee for the possible arrangement before the deadline as stated above.
